Bengaluru: A 27-year-old woman from West Bengal was allegedly gang-raped and robbed of cash and valuables at her home in Gangondanahalli, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, late on Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.

According to officials, five men reportedly entered the woman’s residence, located under the jurisdiction of Madanayakanahalli police station, after 9 pm. The accused allegedly threatened her before taking turns to sexually assault her and escaping with ₹25,000 in cash and two mobile phones.

Senior officers rushed to the scene shortly after receiving an emergency call from the survivor.

“Given the seriousness of the case, a deputy SP-rank officer was assigned to the investigation,” said C. K. Baba, Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Rural. “After speaking to the woman and others in the house, we learned that five people had entered the residence,” he added.

Three of the accused have already been arrested, and efforts are under way to trace the remaining two.

He added that investigators are questioning the arrested suspects to determine whether they were previously acquainted with the woman. “Her condition is out of danger. As per our SOP, all procedures are being followed,” Baba said.

Police said that besides the victim, another woman, two adults, and two children were present in the house at the time of the assault.
