Malayali actress Anju Krishna, a Tamil film assistant director and eight others have been apprehended by Chennai Police in a narcotics raid

Chennai: Actress Anju Krishna, who works in Tamil- Malayalam movies and Tamil film assistant director Vinci Niveda were among 10 people apprehended during a drug raid conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit in Chennai. The operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs received by the police.
According to officials, the case unfolded after the apprehension of Vigneshwaran, a native of Nesapakkam. During questioning, he allegedly provided information about a drug supply network operating in the city. Acting on the lead, police approached an alleged dealer, Venkatesh Kumar, posing as buyers.

Subsequently, Venkatesh Kumar and others who arrived in a car to deliver the narcotics in Valsaravakkam were apprehended. The police seized methamphetamine, LSD stamps and ganja from the group.
Along with Anju Krishna and Vinci Niveda, those apprehended include Karthik Raja, Yashwant, Sriram, Alvibinsha and Venkatesh Kumar. Police stated that the group was allegedly involved in supplying drugs at parties linked to members of the film industry.
Anju Krishna has appeared in Tamil films including Vellimalai and Aaro, which featured actor Joju George. Further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the network and identify additional links, if any, officials said.
