Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police and the Prison Department have jointly conducted coordinated searches at central prisons across the state as part of the anti-narcotics drive, Operation Toofan, officials said on Friday.

The searches were carried out at Poojappura Central Jail in Thiruvananthapuram, Viyyur Central Jail in Thrissur, Tavanur Central Jail in Malappuram and Kannur Central Jail.
Officials said the operation forms part of the state's ongoing crackdown on narcotics and efforts to curb the smuggling and circulation of drugs inside prisons.
