Kanhangad: In connection with the abduction and sexual assault of the 10-year-old in the Hosdurg police station limits, the sister of the primary accused P A Saleem, has also been included in the charge sheet. After the sales receipt was recovered from Saleem's residence in Koothuparamba, his sister was implicated as an accused. It has been found that she helped him in selling the gold earring, which he removed from the girl after torturing her, for Rs 6,500. However, she had already departed for Kodagu by the time the police arrived at her house. Later, another police team went to Kodagu inquiring about Saleem from his sister, but she declined to divulge any information regarding the sale of the gold.
After committing the crime, Saleem headed directly to Koothuparamba. Accompanied by his sister, he visited a jewelry store at 11 am to sell the ornament. After selling the gold, he proceeded directly to Mysore with the money and then traveled to Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Andhra Pradesh.
The police had earlier stated that when he was nabbed, no cash was found from Saleem. He had been wearing the same attire for nine days and had traveled by train without a ticket. Hosdurg Inspector M. P. Azad said there is need for further clarification regarding whether Saleem had given money to someone else. The police intend to petition the Hosdurg Court on Monday to sesk custody of the accused.
On the other hand, investigations are also going on regarding the two cases in which Saleem has been named accused. Hosdurg Sub Inspector Subhash Babu went to two houses in Njankadavu and Muwarikund and collected statements. Based on the confession of the accused, the police have registered a case of attempted robbery at a house in Njankadavu and snatching a woman's necklace in Muwarikund.
Meanwhile, the district police chief recommended giving rewards to the investigating team officers.
