Summer fruits such as lychees, mangoes and pineapples have seen a price hike in Jaipur, with wholesale traders reporting sharp price increases due to supply shortages. According to traders, rising transportation costs, driven by higher petrol and diesel prices, have reduced the volume of fruits reaching the city's wholesale markets. They also point to variations in quality caused by disrupted supply chains.

Fruit sellers say inflation continues to put pressure on the market, making it difficult to predict whether prices will rise further. In the case of pineapples, traders attribute the shortage to a gap between harvest cycles, noting that the new crop is expected to arrive within the next 10 days. They believe increased availability could help ease prices.

Some wholesale market sources estimate that prices of certain fruits have risen by more than 50 percent in recent weeks. Traders remain hopeful that improved supplies in the coming days will stabilise rates and provide relief to consumers
