New Delhi: Bollywood actress and author Soha Ali Khan celebrates her 47th birthday on Saturday, October 4. Born in New Delhi in 1978, Soha belongs to the Pataudi family, being the daughter of celebrated actress Sharmila Tagore and legendary cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, and the sister of actor Saif Ali Khan.

Soha pursued her early education at The British School, New Delhi, before moving to the UK for higher studies. She graduated from Balliol College, Oxford, and went on to earn a Master’s degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

She made her Bollywood debut with the 2004 film ‘Dil Maange More’, but it was her role in the 2006 critically acclaimed film ‘Rang De Basanti’ that brought her widespread recognition. Starring alongside Aamir Khan, the film explored themes of patriotism and youth activism and became a major success. Soha’s performance earned her the IIFA Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Over the years, she has appeared in several notable films, including ‘Antar Mahal’ (2005), ‘Khoya Khoya Chand’ (2007), ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’ (2008), ‘Tum Mile’ (2009) and ‘Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns’ (2013). Known for selecting meaningful and offbeat roles, Soha has maintained a selective approach to her film career, prioritising substance over commercial appeal.

Apart from acting, Soha is a published author. Her debut book, The Perils of Being Moderately Famous (2017), received praise for its wit, honesty and personal anecdotes, offering readers a glimpse into her life within a prominent family and her experiences in the entertainment industry.

On the personal front, Soha married actor Kunal Khemu in 2015, and the couple has a daughter, Inaaya Naumi Khemu, born in 2017.

As she celebrates her 47th birthday, Soha Ali Khan continues to be admired for her poised public persona, intellectual pursuits and a career marked by thoughtful choices rather than commercial compromises.
