Breaking away from a conventional career path, Rajshree Panda, a science graduate from Odisha’s Khordha district, chose agriculture and turned it into a profitable, year-round livelihood through integrated farming techniques.

By adopting integrated farming techniques, Rajshree has been able to generate a steady, year-round income. Mushroom cultivation forms the backbone of her earnings, complemented by the farming of mustard, potatoes, onions and finger millet on her fields.

Speaking about her work, Rajshree said Mushroom farming gives us the most income. We also cultivate mustard, potatoes, onions, and muda (finger millet) in our field.

We earn about Rs 6-7 lakh. We have 3-4 workers here, and after paying their wages, we make a profit of Rs 5-6 lakh.

Meanwhile, Block Agriculture Officer Sahran Kumar Rawal praised her efforts, ‘’Madam is a science graduate, but she has a unique enthusiasm for farming. She has been taking benefits from the integrated Farming Scheme. Last year, she also cultivated sunflowers. By applying her education to agriculture, she is definitely inspiring the younger generation’’

Rajshree Panda’s success has made her a role model not only for farmers in Khordha district but also for aspiring agriculturists across Odisha, demonstrating how education and innovation can transform traditional farming into a profitable enterprise.
