The Rajasthan government has surveyed over 1.5 million ancient manuscripts under its ambitious Gyan Bharatam Mission, with more than 53,000 pages already scanned and digitised by the Rajasthan Sanskrit Academy.

The large-scale preservation initiative aims to safeguard centuries-old knowledge systems and historical records through digital archiving while keeping the original manuscripts in the custody of their respective owners.

Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari recently visited the Vedic Heritage Manuscript Research Institute to review the ongoing work and directed officials to speed up the survey and digitisation process.

Officials said the next phase of the mission will integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) to translate the manuscripts into Hindi, English, and several other languages, making the content more accessible to researchers and the public.

The survey has also brought to light several rare manuscripts dating between the 14th and 16th centuries, including historical genealogies linked to royal dynasties and different communities.
