Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday hit out at the BJP, accusing it of hypocrisy for invoking “Vande Mataram”, which symbolises unity and non-violence, while simultaneously promoting divisive rhetoric. “On one hand, the BJP talks about Vande Mataram, which stands for non-violence, and on the other, it talks about ‘katta’ (country-made guns),” Priyanka said, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated “katta sarkar” jibe at the opposition alliance in Bihar.

Earlier in the day, affirming the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) victory in the Bihar elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his "katta" jibe at the Mahagathbandhan, declaring, "Nahi chahiye Katta sarkaar, phir ek baar NDA sarkaar."

Bihar's first phase of voting has recently concluded, and the second phase of voting for 122 seats is set for November 11. The results of the Bihar Assembly elections are slated to be announced on November 14.
