Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated stars, continues to inspire generations with a remarkable career spanning over five decades. Born as Gouranga Chakraborty in Kolkata on June 16, 1950, Mithun transformed Indian entertainment through blockbuster films, unforgettable dance performances, and award-winning acting.
After graduating from FTII, Mithun made a sensational debut with Mrigayaa, earning the National Film Award for Best Actor. He later became a household name with Surakshaa before achieving global fame through Disco Dancer, a film that turned him into an international icon. Known as India’s original dancing star, Mithun delivered hits across multiple languages while balancing commercial success with critically acclaimed performances. From Agneepath to The Kashmir Files, he reinvented himself across generations.
