Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has heaped praise on teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, calling him “God’s gift to Indian cricket” after his explosive 29-ball 97 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL Eliminator. Speaking on Sports Tak, Gavaskar said the 15-year-old deserves an immediate call-up for India’s upcoming white-ball tour of England, saying age should not matter given his fearless batting against experienced bowlers. Gavaskar highlighted Sooryavanshi’s ability to hit technically sound straight sixes and praised his composure against short-pitched bowling. While acknowledging the selection dilemma involving players like Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, Gavaskar termed it a “happy headache” for Indian cricket. He also fondly recalled Sooryavanshi touching his feet before practice, calling the youngster respectful and exceptionally talented.
