Monsoon threat: Massive tree near Adimali school sparks concern
Overhanging Vaka tree branches near a school meal area in Idukki have sparked safety concerns as parents seek urgent action before an accident occurs.
A large Vaka tree near Adimali Government High School in Kerala's Idukki district has become a growing safety concern as several branches extend over the area where students gather daily for their midday meals. With the monsoon bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds across the region, parents and school authorities fear that falling branches could endanger hundreds of children.
The tree is located close to the school ground, with its branches hanging over a crowded area used daily by hundreds of students. Residents say the risk increases during adverse weather conditions, as Vaka trees are known to be vulnerable to branch breakage due to weak inner wood.
Parents have urged the revenue and forest departments to ensure student safety and prevent any untoward incident.
