Indian-born cheetah gives birth to 4 cubs at Kuno National Park
A female cheetah born in India has given birth to four cubs at Kuno National Park, marking a new milestone for Project Cheetah.
A female cheetah born in India has given birth to four cubs at Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park, marking another milestone for Project Cheetah.
Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav announced the news on Friday, just a day after the cheetah reintroduction programme completed four years.
The mother, identified as KGP12, was born in India. Yadav described the four cubs as a symbol of the growing progress of cheetah conservation in the country.
Cheetahs were declared extinct in India in 1952.
The reintroduction programme began on September 17, 2022, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi released eight cheetahs brought from Namibia into Kuno National Park.
