Corbett braces for Christmas–New Year tourist surge
Hotels and resorts near Corbett National Park are preparing for a surge in tourist arrivals during the Christmas and New Year holidays
Hotels and resorts in and around Uttarakhand’s Corbett National Park are gearing up for a significant influx of tourists as the Christmas and New Year holiday season approaches, with tourism stakeholders anticipating a sharp rise in visitor footfall.
Hoteliers say preparations are underway to attract travellers, with many properties rolling out festive packages featuring cultural programmes, bonfires and an array of traditional Kumaoni delicacies. The year-end period is considered one of the busiest seasons for the region’s hospitality industry.
Officials at the Corbett Tiger Reserve have confirmed that government rest houses and several hotels are already fully booked for the festive period. Authorities have also urged tourists and hotel operators to strictly follow environmental guidelines to protect wildlife and preserve the ecological balance of the reserve amid holiday celebrations.
According to the region’s Hotel Association, bookings have been satisfactory so far, and there is strong optimism that occupancy levels will touch full capacity as the New Year draws closer.
A major wildlife tourism hub, the Corbett Tiger Reserve attracts a large number of domestic and international visitors every year, with tourist arrivals peaking during the holiday season. Hoteliers remain hopeful of a substantial business boost before the year comes to a close.
