Assam assembly elections: BPF’s ‘Dispur Chalo Yatra 2026’ begins to sweep all 15 BTC seats for NDA
Addressing party workers, BPF president Hagrama Mohilary reiterated support for Himanta Biswa Sarma to continue as Assam's chief minister.
The Bodoland People's Front (BPF) has kick-started its poll campaign for the Assam Assembly elections 2026 with the launch of the ‘Dispur Chalo Yatra 2026’, setting an ambitious target of winning all 15 seats in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) for the NDA.
The yatra was formally flagged off from Gossaigaon on Wednesday and is expected to traverse key areas of the Bodoland Territorial Region, focusing on mass outreach and cadre mobilisation ahead of the crucial elections.

Speaking at a large public meeting, BPF president and BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary said the alliance must work in unison to ensure a decisive victory in the BTR. He stressed that the region should once again play a pivotal role in strengthening the NDA’s position in the state assembly.
Mohilary also voiced his support for Himanta Biswa Sarma, stating that continuity in leadership was essential for development and stability and that Sarma should continue as the chief minister of Assam after the 2026 polls.
The rally, held under the banner of the ‘Dispur Chalo Yatra 2026’, saw the participation of senior party leaders along with a large number of grassroots workers. Party leaders said the campaign would focus on highlighting development initiatives, strengthening organisational networks, and consolidating voter support across Bodoland.
With the Assam assembly elections drawing closer, the BPF aims to project unity within the NDA and reaffirm its dominance in the BTR, positioning the region as a key electoral battleground in the run-up to the state polls.
