The comic, featuring a redesigned suit, new Batmobile, and Batman operating from Pennyworth Manor, has been a smash hit, selling over 500,000 copies

A new DC comic has finally answered the long-pondered question: Does Batman wear socks? According to Batman #1, released in September 2025, Bruce Wayne does indeed wear ordinary white socks underneath his iconic boots. Despite his vast resources and high-tech Batsuit, the comic humorously reveals that there is no substitute for classic, simple socks.
The reveal comes from cover art by Jorge Jiménez for the new Batman series written by Matt Fraction, as reported by IGN. The comic also introduces a redesigned blue and grey Batsuit and a new Batmobile, setting a fresh tone for Batman’s adventures operating out of Pennyworth Manor and clashing with the Gotham City Police Department under new commissioner Vandal Savage.
This playful detail adds a humanising touch to Batman, showing that beneath the high-tech armour and gadgetry lies a practical approach to comfort, even for the Dark Knight. The comic has been a major success, selling over 500,000 copies and setting records for 2025 comic sales.
Batman #1 is available now, and a second printing with new variant covers is planned for October 2025.
