Joe and Anthony Russo have thanked Marvel fans after ‘Avengers: Endgame’ reclaimed its position as the highest-grossing film of all time following its Encore re-release.

The Russo Brothers, who directed the Marvel blockbuster, took to Instagram to acknowledge the audiences who returned to theatres for the special re-release. The filmmakers also signed off with one of the franchise’s most memorable lines, saying, “We love you 3000.”’

In a video shared on Instagram, the directors reflected on the experience of watching ‘Avengers: Endgame’ with audiences when it first hit theatres and said the Encore release allowed them to relive that moment.

“Our favourite thing about making Avengers: Endgame was sitting in the theatres with audiences as we released it,” the brothers said, adding that being able to experience that connection again through the Encore screenings was “amazing”.

They also thanked fans for continuing to support the film throughout its journey.

The directors described the film’s return to the top of the box office as one of the most special moments of their careers. They expressed gratitude to viewers who returned to theatres, brought along people who had never seen the film before and introduced a new generation of fans to the Marvel epic.

The Russo Brothers captioned their post: “Thank you for coming back to theaters for Endgame Encore and making Endgame the #1 film of all time. To every fan who’s been part of this journey for the last seven years, we love you 3000.”

‘Avengers: Endgame’ originally released in 2019, following the events of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. The film centres on the surviving Avengers and their allies as they attempt to undo the devastation caused by Thanos, who had wiped out half of all life in the universe.

‘Avengers: Infinity War’, released in 2018, introduced the Avengers’ battle against Thanos as he sought to collect all six Infinity Stones and execute his plan to eliminate half of all life.

‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ returned to theatres on September 25, 2026. The special release featured new footage and an exclusive look at ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, giving Marvel fans another reason to revisit the blockbuster on the big screen.
