The internet may have turned Samay Raina's personal life into a guessing game, but the comedian has now offered a clear answer on at least one of the rumours surrounding him.

Amid the growing buzz around India's Got Latent season 2, Raina has denied speculation that he is dating fellow comedian Sharon Verma.

The dating rumours gained traction online after viewers began reading a romantic angle into Raina and Verma's interactions. Their equation, coupled with their sharp banter on the show, prompted sections of social media to speculate that the two were more than friends.

However, Raina has now made it clear that the relationship being discussed online does not exist.

During an Instagram 'Ask Me Anything' session, a fan directly asked Raina about the rumours linking him to Verma. Responding to the question, the comedian said the speculation was the 'internet's creation' and had no basis in reality.

The clarification comes at a time when India's Got Latent season 2 is attracting considerable attention, with conversations around the show extending beyond its episodes and performances.

Raina's personal life has increasingly become part of that online chatter, particularly following recent episodes featuring Verma and actor Medha Shankr.

The speculation intensified after an episode in which Shankr appeared on the panel alongside Varun Dhawan.

Social media users began constructing a possible love-triangle theory involving Raina, Verma and Shankr, with fans even taking sides over who they believed could be Raina's romantic interest.

Raina, however, has not yet responded to assumptions surrounding his equation with Shankr.

The conversation revolved around their respective regional identities.

Raina introduced Verma with a joke about her being Bihari, while Verma responded with a joke about Raina being Kashmiri.

The exchange drew criticism from BJP MLA Ram Kadam, who objected to remarks concerning Biharis and Kashmiri Pandits. In a statement to IANS, Kadam argued that Hindu deities and Kashmiri Pandits should not be treated as subjects of ridicule. He also criticised what he described as the use of controversial statements to gain publicity.

'There are certain forces in society that deliberately make controversial statements simply to gain publicity. Their sole objective is to become famous,' Kadam said.

He further argued that offensive remarks should not be dismissed merely because an apology follows, claiming that such controversies can generate publicity for those involved.

The comments did not lead to a public response from Raina and Verma, who moved on from the controversy.

Several celebrities subsequently defended the comedians and urged audiences to view the show in the spirit of its irreverent format.

Meanwhile, Verma's appearances alongside Raina continue to fuel online curiosity about their equation.

She recently returned to the panel with Dhawan and Shankr, giving social media another opportunity to speculate about Raina's personal life.

For now, Raina's answer on Verma is unequivocal: the dating rumours are not true. As for the theories involving Shankr, the comedian is yet to offer a similar clarification.
