In a key escalation, the Artists’ Forum moves to file an FIR, intensifying the push for answers in Rahul Banerjee’s death.

Kolkata: In the latest development in the Rahul Arunoday Banerjee death case, the West Bengal Motion Picture Artists’ Forum (WBMPAF) has decided to file an FIR, marking a significant escalation in the industry’s demand for clarity and accountability.
The decision comes days after the actor’s sudden death during the shoot of the television serial ‘Bhole Baba Par Karega’, an incident that has continued to raise questions within Tollywood.

Despite earlier outreach to the show’s production house, Magic Moments, the Forum has maintained that the response received did not sufficiently address the concerns flagged by members.
According to the latest update, the Artists’ Forum will lodge a formal complaint at the Regent Park Police Station on Saturday afternoon.
The move follows multiple rounds of internal discussions, including a key meeting held at veteran actor Prosenjit Chatterjee’s residence on Thursday night.
Actor and Banerjee’s wife Priyanka Sarkar, Dev, Nispal Singh Rane, Parambrata Chatterjee, Bharat Kaul, and several others were present, with sources indicating a strong consensus on the need for a legal course of action.
In a statement issued late Friday, the Forum confirmed that it had sought legal advice before arriving at the decision.
It reiterated that it was not satisfied with the explanation provided by the production house and pointed to the growing speculation and conflicting narratives around the incident, particularly on social media.
The Forum stressed that the FIR is being filed to ensure a “full and transparent investigation” into what led to Rahul’s death.
Members have repeatedly flagged “multiple unanswered questions”, underlining the urgency of establishing a clear sequence of events.
Chatterjee summed up the sentiment within the industry, saying, “Rahul is gone and will not return. At least let his son know how his father died.” His remark has resonated widely, reflecting both the emotional weight of the loss and the demand for accountability. Watch his statement below:
This marks a shift from initial expressions of grief to a more structured push for answers, with the industry now formally seeking intervention from law enforcement authorities. The outcome of the FIR and subsequent probe is expected to be closely watched.
Banerjee died on March 29, 2026, while shooting at the Talsari Beach. The actor reportedly collapsed on set, and despite being rushed for medical attention, could not be revived.
This incident has since triggered questions over the exact circumstances surrounding his death.
