Mumbai: Rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, will no longer perform in India this month after organisers officially cancelled his much-awaited New Delhi concert scheduled for May 23. The event, which was set to mark Ye’s India debut, was called off following “directives issued by officials”, according to a statement released on Instagram.

The concert was slated to take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi after it had earlier been rescheduled from March 29. The organisers described the show as one of the biggest live productions planned in India and said the decision was taken keeping public safety in mind during a “sensitive time”.

“We are deeply disheartened to announce that Ye Live in India, scheduled for 23rd May 2026 in New Delhi, will not be able to proceed due to directives issued by officials,” the statement said.

The organisers further added that the “safety and well-being of attendees and the citizens of India remain our highest priority”. They also thanked fans, partners and crew members who had supported the event preparations over the past several months.

Why was Ye’s India concert cancelled? What are the refund policies?

While the organisers confirmed that official directives led to the cancellation, no further details were shared about the exact reasons behind the decision.

Importantly, the organisers confirmed that ticket holders will receive refunds for the cancelled show. “Full refunds will be issued to all valid ticket holders who purchased through the official ticketing partner, District, within 5-7 business days. We are currently working with the artist's team to secure a new date and venue,” the statement added.

Will Ye perform in India later?

The organisers said discussions are underway with Ye’s team to secure a fresh date and venue for the concert. However, no official timeline or replacement schedule has been announced so far.

Who is Ye?

Ye rose to global fame in the early 2000s after the release of his breakthrough single “Through the Wire” in 2003. He later released his debut album in 2004 and went on to become one of the most influential names in global hip-hop and music production.

The rapper is known for hit tracks including “Nias in Paris”, “Bound 2” and “Hurricane”, among several others.
