Khan emphasized the significance of the box office as an "unemotional" and conclusive measure of how well a movie connects with viewers.

Mumbai: Aamir Khan recently opened up about his 2024 production Laapataa Ladies' box office performance, citing the film's early over-the-top (OTT) release as a potential barrier to its theatrical success. Khan emphasized the significance of the box office as an "unemotional" and conclusive measure of how well a movie connects with viewers in an interview with News18 Showsha.
"Unemotional" is how Khan described the box office, which provides a clear view of how a movie does in theaters. "In the end, the box office provides a pretty clear benchmark. Reviews are arbitrary; some individuals enjoy a movie, while others don't. But the box office is unemotional. It clearly tells you how much a film has earned, and it’s a fairly accurate measure. Unless there’s a specific reason a film didn’t do well, box office performance reflects how much a film is loved," he said.
He went on to say that ultimately, it’s the box office that gives one a very definite yardstick. The Sitaare Zameen Par actor opined that reviews are subjective — some people like a film, some don’t. But the box office is unemotional. It clearly tells you how much a film has earned, and it’s a fairly accurate measure. Unless there’s a specific reason a film didn’t do well, box office performance reflects how much a film is loved,” Khan remarked.
Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, opened in theaters on March 1, 2024. Ravi Kishan, Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, and Sparsh Shrivastava are all featured. The plot centers on the unanticipated pandemonium of the grooms trying to find their wives when two brides are inadvertently switched during a train voyage.
Khan is preparing for the premiere of his eagerly anticipated movie Sitaare Zameen Par in the meantime. The movie, which will be released in theaters on June 20, 2025, is the spiritual follow-up to the popular 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. In addition to Khan, the film features Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, Simran Mangeshkar, Genelia Deshmukh, Dolly Ahluwalia, Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, and Ayush Bhansali.
Sitaare Zameen Par, written by Divy Nidhi Sharma, was directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan, Aparna Purohit, and Ravi Bhagchandka.
