Gorakhpur: Actor and BJP MP Ravi Kishan on Wednesday shared that winning the Filmfare Award for his role in Kiran Rao's "Laapataa Ladies" has given him “fresh energy” and a stronger determination to continue excelling in his work.

“Now I’m even more fired up… like a rocket!” the 55-year-old actor exclaimed upon returning to his hometown, Gorakhpur, after receiving the best supporting actor trophy in Ahmedabad last week.

With the iconic black trophy in hand, Kishan made his way to the Gorakhnath Temple, where he paid homage by bowing before the idol of Guru Gorakhnath and placing the award at the deity’s feet as a sign of gratitude.

“I dedicate this award to my wife, my children, my director Kiran Rao and producer Aamir Khan,” said the actor-turned-politician. He also revealed that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally called to congratulate him.

A leading figure in Bhojpuri cinema, Kishan has also gained recognition in Hindi films such as "Welcome to Sajjanpur," "Raavan," and "Mukkabaaz." Reflecting on his career, he said, “I never let the artist inside me die. Coming from a small clay house, I once doubted if I could ever win such a big award, but hard work pays off. 'Laapataa Ladies' reaching the Oscars was proof of that."

Recalling his award moment on stage, he added, “When I chanted ‘Har Har Mahadev’ on stage — in front of Shah Rukh Khan, the Bachchan family, and the entire film industry — the entire stadium roared. Ahmedabad gave me immense love."

Finally, Kishan shared words of encouragement for young people: “Never lose hope and keep stepping forward. After a long journey, at the age of 55, I finally got the black lady," he said.
