Vivek Oberoi, who made his Hindi film debut in the 2002 hit Company, shared his memorable experience of working with Malayalam cinema legend Mohanlal. The film, directed by Ram Gopal Varma, featured Mohanlal in a pivotal role, and the video of Vivek recalling his first encounter with the actor has gone viral on social media.

Vivek, then just 24 years old, described how he was in awe of Mohanlal's effortless transformation from a normal person to his character as soon as the director called "Action". Vivek admitted that he was so captivated by Mohanlal’s performance that he forgot his own lines.

"When I was doing Company, I was this 24-year-old kid. Lalettan (Mohanlal) was there, very normal as a person. But the minute they said 'Action', he got into his zone. Suddenly, he picked up a glass paperweight, started playing with it, telling his lines, looking up in between. I was just sitting there, looking at the genius performance. Now, it was supposed to be my counter dialogue, but the camera came to me and I was just looking at him like a fanboy, wondering, 'How did he do that?' Mr. Ram Gopal Varma actually reprimanded me and asked, 'What happened? You have to say your dialogue now.' I said, 'Sorry, sir, I was just enjoying the moment, enjoying the performance right infront of me two feet away,'” Vivek recalled.

Vivek also shared a touching anecdote about Mohanlal reaching out to him before the making of Lucifer.

“Mohanlal sir called me and said, ‘Raju is directing the film. You did your Hindi debut with me. You should do your Malayalam debut also with me.’ So I decided to do Lucifer and I am so happy I did. Even now, whenever I’m walking through a mall in Dubai, I keep hearing someone calling me Bobby, Bobby (his character name in Lucifer). I immediately know it’s a Mallu. I immediately ask them, ‘Sughamano?’ (Are you well?).”
