The trailer of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s ‘Vilaayath Budha’ has arrived, teasing a gritty action-packed drama set in the famed Marayoor sandalwood belt.

The trailer of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s upcoming film ‘Vilaayath Budha’ has been unveiled, offering a first look at what appears to be a gritty, high-energy action drama. The actor steps into the role of Double Mohan, a sandalwood smuggler navigating a dangerous power struggle, while the visuals also spotlight a commanding performance by Shammi Thilakan.
The film, directed by Jayan Nambiar, is set for a worldwide theatrical release on 21 November. Set in the rugged Marayoor region — famed for its treasured sandalwood and often referred to as the land of ‘golden trees’ — the film draws from GR Indugopan’s acclaimed novel of the same name. Produced by Sandeep Senan under Urvashi Theatres, with AV Anoop co-producing for AVA Productions, the project marks another major outing for the banner behind titles such as ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’, ‘Sathyam Paranja Viswasikkuvo’ and ‘Saudi Vellakka’.
The screenplay, written by GR Indugopan and Rajesh Pinnadan, reimagines the novel’s core conflict with a cinematic blend of revenge, raw emotion and generational rivalry. Priyamvada Krishnan plays the female lead, while the ensemble cast features Rajashree Nair, Anu Mohan and Teejay Arunasalam.
On the technical side, the film boasts a strong creative team. Composer Jakes Bejoy handles the music, and cinematography is jointly led by Arvind Kashyap – known for his work in ‘Kantara 1 & 2’, ‘777 Charlie’ and ‘Bell Bottom’ – along with Renadive. Early promotional material, including teasers, posters and the widely shared track ‘Kaattu Raasa’, has already helped build significant anticipation online.
