Kochi: The election for a new executive committee of the Malayalam film artists' organization 'AMMA' remains uncertain. Two months after the entire leadership resigned in response to the Hema Committee report, there has been no progress in convening a general meeting or conducting elections.

According to an AMMA official, the organisation's bylaws allow the watchdog committee to continue its work until June. They added that there hasn't been a rush to convene the general body because there is still time until the deadline.

The current governing body stepped down on August 27 following serious allegations of misconduct against several office bearers, including former general secretary Siddique. At that time, it was announced that new elections would take place within two months. As of October 27, it will have been two months since their resignation.

Reports indicate that the delay in elections is partly due to the challenge of finding suitable replacements. Prominent actors, including the current president Mohanlal, have stated they are not interested in returning to the leadership. Younger actors are also hesitant to step forward.

Despite being a caretaker governing committee, it has been reported that all of the organisation's welfare programs continue without interruption. As a result, there has been little demand among members for a new governing body at this time.
