Actor Mohanlal has announced that his 2007 blockbuster 'Chotta Mumbai' will be re-released in theatres in a digitally remastered 4K version. The film is set to hit the big screens once again on May 21, 2025. The announcement was made by Mohanlal through his official social media handle.

Directed by Anwar Rasheed and written by Benny P. Nayarambalam, 'Chotta Mumbai' is a high-energy action comedy that became a massive box-office success upon its original release. The film stars Mohanlal as Vasco da Gama, fondly called ‘Thala’, alongside Kalabhavan Mani, Siddique, Jagathy Sreekumar, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manikuttan, Bijukuttan, Sai Kumar, and Bhavana. The music was composed by Rahul Raj.

The story follows Vasco and his group of carefree, unemployed friends who find themselves in conflict with a corrupt cop and gangster, Nadeshan. The film was among the top five highest-grossing Malayalam films of 2007 and enjoyed a theatrical run of over 101 days.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal was recently seen in 'Thudarum', directed by Tharun Moorthy, which was released in theatres on April 25. The film, which marked his reunion with actress Shobana, has already crossed ₹100 crore at the box office.
