The much-loved couple of Malayalam cinema, Suchitra and Mohanlal, continue to capture the hearts of fans with their charming rapport. Recently, in a candid interview with Rekha Menon on her YouTube channel, Suchitra opened up about her deep admiration for the legendary actor, recalling how she had a crush on him since her school days.

Suchitra, known for her candid personality, shared with viewers how she would eagerly inquire about Mohanlal with her tuition teacher Babu Master. "Instead of studying, I used to spend a lot of time gossiping about movies and Mohanlal," she confessed, laughing at her younger self. Her enthusiasm for the actor was so pronounced that her teacher was well aware of her fanhood.

In her school days, Suchitra would send numerous cards to Mohanlal, though he never knew who they were earlier. "I used to send at least five cards a day," she revealed how she used to stalk him back then. Suchitra admitted, smiling at the memory of her youthful obsession.

She also reminisced about the first time she saw Mohanlal in person, at the wedding of producer Visakh's father, whom she affectionately calls "Murali uncle" in Thiruvananthapuram. Prior to that, Suchitra had been a regular at movie theaters in Calicut, watching all of Mohanlal's films. "I used to go to theatres in Calicut and watch all his movies," she said. 

When asked about her first impression of Mohanlal's performance, she confessed that her initial reaction was less than favourable. "I’ve seen all his movies. I watched ‘Manjil Virinja Pookkal’ and at that time, I did not like him at all. But that proves how good an actor he is," she reflected, showcasing her appreciation for his evolving craft over the years.

The interview also touched upon the nickname that Suchitra and her family used to call Mohanlal during those days: "SKP”, which stands for Sundarakuttappan, meaning "handsome boy”. 

Suchitra also shared an interesting tidbit about how her family played a role in bringing her closer to Mohanlal. It was her mother and aunty who escalated the marriage proposal, she said, revealing that she had confided in them about her affection for Mohanlal. 

However, Suchitra was also honest about her views on some of Mohanlal's films. "Like any actor, Mohanlal has been part of films that were not commercially successful or critically appreciated," she said candidly. "If I don’t like a film, I say it. There are several films of his that I just couldn’t digest." 

Suchitra also shared some fun facts about Mohanlal's love for food and cooking. "What we both love is food. He enjoys cooking just as much as he loves eating," she revealed. "Sometimes he watches cooking videos on his phone." She further added that when she came to his place, Mohanlal’s mother told her that the actor used to make dosa and grind chamanthi (a coconut chutney) in the kitchen.
