Acclaimed director S S Rajamouli has unveiled the first look of actor Prithviraj Sukumaran in his highly anticipated magnum opus, Globe Trotter, which stars Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu in the lead. Rajamouli described bringing to life the film’s “sinister, ruthless, powerful antagonist” Kumbha as creatively fulfilling.

Sharing the poster on X, Rajamouli wrote, “After canning the first shot with Prithvi, I walked up to him and said you are one of the finest actors I’ve ever known. Bringing life to this sinister, ruthless, powerful antagonist KUMBHA was creatively very satisfying. Thank you Prithvi for slipping into his chair… literally… @PrithviOfficial #GlobeTrotter.”

Prithviraj responded, “It’s been an absolute honour Sir! So looking forward to the rest of this mad mad ride! @ssrajamouli.”

In the film, Prithviraj plays a specially-abled character, seen sitting in a wheelchair equipped with robotic arms and legs.

Mahesh Babu, who also shared Prithviraj’s first look, wrote, “Stood on the other side… time to meet you head-on KUMBHA… @PrithviOfficial #GlobeTrotter @ssrajamouli @priyankachopra @mmkeeravaani @SriDurgaArts @SBbySSK.”

Priyanka Chopra added, “We take off with this one… Meet KUMBHA!! @PrithviOfficial.”

The film has been closely followed by fans ever since Rajamouli announced back in August that details would begin to emerge in November. At that time, he had promised a “never-before-seen reveal” to showcase the depth and immersive world of Globe Trotter. Mahesh Babu echoed the sentiment, urging fans to stay tuned for November 2025.

Globe Trotter has attracted attention for several reasons. Mahesh Babu is reportedly performing all his own stunts in the film without a body double. Furthermore, 95 per cent of the African sequences were filmed in Kenya, as confirmed by Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia W. Mudavadi.

Rajamouli has also opted to collaborate with a new cinematographer for this project, departing from his long-time partnership with K K Senthil Kumar. A significant portion of the film, which is being made on a lavish budget, was shot in Odisha.

Alongside Mahesh Babu, the cast includes Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The action-adventure, which incorporates elements of history and mythology, is slated for release in 2027.
