The case stems from a complaint lodged by Siraj Valiyathura Hameed, a native of Aroor, who alleged that he had invested ₹7 crore in the production of Manjummel Boys

Kochi: Actor and producer Soubin Shahir has stated that he and the production team were willing to share the profit with the complainant in the financial fraud case related to the film Manjummel Boys. According to Soubin, the complainant approached the court while the financial accounts were still under review, and the matter should now be settled through legal means.
Soubin appeared before the Maradu Police for questioning on the case for a second consecutive day. Speaking to journalists upon his arrival to give his statement, he clarified his stance.
“The principal amount has been fully returned. We are still reviewing the remaining account details. We are willing to pay the correct amount once that is clarified. But the figures they are claiming—are they accurate? The profit has been set aside. They went to court, didn’t they? Let the legal system decide. We have the accounts, and we are prepared to cooperate fully. So let them decide,” Soubin said.
The case stems from a complaint lodged by Siraj Valiyathura Hameed, a native of Aroor, who alleged that he had invested ₹7 crore in the production of Manjummel Boys but neither received the agreed profit share nor had his investment returned. Based on his complaint, the Maradu Police registered a case, naming Soubin Shahir, his father Babu Shahir, and Shawn Antony as the accused.
According to the police report submitted to the court, the producers are alleged to have committed serious financial fraud. Siraj claimed that while he invested ₹7 crore, only ₹50 lakh was returned. The agreement reportedly guaranteed him 40% of the revenue from theatrical, OTT, satellite, and other rights—an obligation that was allegedly not fulfilled. The report further states that Siraj incurred a loss of ₹47 crore, and the financial setback led to the collapse of his seafood business and affected his cancer treatment.
Financial records submitted by distributors indicate that Manjummel Boys grossed ₹140.89 crore from theatres in India, with a profit of ₹45.30 crore. An additional ₹96 crore was reportedly earned through OTT, satellite, overseas rights, music rights, and dubbing. While the total production cost of the film is estimated at ₹17.95 crore, the producers’ claim of a ₹22 crore budget has been deemed inaccurate by the police.
