Thiruvananthapuram: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) says it has obtained crucial evidence needed to continue the investigation in the CMRL-Exalogic case. According to reports, investigating officers have informed the Directorate about details of the evidence gathered in the CMRL-Exalogic transaction. Notices will soon be issued to Veena, daughter of Opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan, and CMRL officials to appear for questioning.

Examining the details of Veena’s phone will be crucial. The ED has also begun collecting evidence focusing on other names mentioned in the diary. Raids were conducted at around 12 locations the other day, including Pinarayi Vijayan’s residence. The ED has informed the Directorate that several important documents were recovered during these searches.

Statements had earlier been recorded from 5 officials, including CMRL’s Chief Financial Officer. The CFO reportedly provided details, including a list of people to whom money was allegedly paid. ED officials say the raids conducted recently helped them collect documents supporting these statements.

ED also claims it has sufficient evidence to proceed with the investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Copies of evidence obtained during the SFIO (Serious Fraud Investigation Office) probe are now also with the ED after being secured from the court.

ED says it has secured documentary evidence strong enough to corroborate the statements recorded so far. Reports say ED officials have approached the Directorate seeking approval to move to the next stage of investigation. Once instructions are received, the process to question Veena will begin.

Officials say only preliminary statements were recorded earlier and that a detailed interrogation is required after consolidating more evidence. For this, Veena may be summoned to the Kochi office for questioning. CMRL officials will also be called for questioning alongside her.

Meanwhile, anticipating these moves, CMRL is preparing to approach the High Court seeking to halt the investigation. According to reports, the company’s lawyers have already begun efforts to get the petition considered on an urgent basis.
