Shia LaBeouf was arrested again over a misdemeanour battery charge linked to an alleged altercation during Mardi Gras celebrations.

Hollywood actor and filmmaker Shia LaBeouf has been arrested again following an alleged physical altercation during Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans last month, according to records from the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office.
LaBeouf, known for films including 'Transformers', 'Honey Boy', 'Padre Pio', 'Pieces of a Woman' and 'Fury', was initially booked on two counts of simple battery after reportedly becoming involved in a confrontation at R Bar in the Faubourg Marigny area on February 17.
Shia LaBeouf turns himself in after a new arrest warrant
Authorities confirmed that a new arrest warrant was issued on Friday. LaBeouf voluntarily turned himself in on Saturday and was charged with one additional misdemeanour count of simple battery.
The latest charge comes weeks after a video of the alleged brawl surfaced online, sparking widespread reaction across social media platforms.
Details of the alleged Mardi Gras incident
According to reports, the altercation took place during the annual Mardi Gras celebrations. LaBeouf is alleged to have punched a bartender multiple times before striking another man in the face. He has also been accused of using homophobic slurs during the incident.
The case has drawn significant public attention, given the actor’s previous legal troubles and his candid admissions about past behavioural issues.

Attorney responds to arrest
LaBeouf’s attorney, Sarah Chervinsky, confirmed the new charge and criticised the handling of the case.
“No regular person would be required to post over $100,000 in bonds and be jailed twice for one misdemeanour incident. Just as he does not deserve preferential treatment, Mr LaBeouf also does not deserve to be treated more harshly by the police and courts just because he is a public figure,” she said.
Actor addresses the incident publicly
Speaking to YouTuber Andrew Callaghan, LaBeouf acknowledged responsibility for the confrontation.
“It’s not nice to hurt people ever. It’s lame. People got hurt. I’ve got to deal with that. I’m going to deal with that in full. I’ll eat it all,” he said.
Taking ownership of his actions, he added, “It was on me. It’s not on them. It’s on me. I messed up.”
The actor also stated that he did not believe returning to rehabilitation was the appropriate solution, explaining that he does not consider alcohol to be the root of his issues. Instead, he described his struggles as stemming from anger and ego, referring to what he called a “small man complex”.

History of legal troubles
Shia LaBeouf has previously faced legal issues, including arrests for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. In 2017, he was arrested in Georgia, an incident that resulted in a court-mandated rehabilitation programme. The actor has spoken openly about addiction, mental health challenges and unresolved childhood trauma.
The latest arrest adds to the series of legal and personal challenges that have marked recent years for the Hollywood star.
As the Shia LaBeouf arrest case continues to unfold, further court proceedings are expected in New Orleans.
