Chennai: Actress and 'Bigg Boss Tamil 4' contestant Sanam Shetty has expressed disappointment over actor Vijay attending a wedding reception with actress Trisha, emphasising that the grief of his wife Sangkeetha cannot be overlooked.

In a post on X Sanam reshared a report covering Vijay and Trisha appearing together at a wedding in Chennai on Thursday. Tagging Vijay and his party's official handle TVK, she wrote:

“NO! This is not the way Grief of the wife cannot be ignored like this! As a long time fan its deeply disappointing to watch at this time! @actorvijay @TVKVijayHQ”

Sanam, previously a steadfast supporter of Vijay, voiced her concerns following his public appearance with Trisha amid ongoing divorce proceedings.

Background: Sangkeetha files divorce petition

Sangkeetha Vijay has filed a divorce petition at the Chengalpattu District Court, seeking the dissolution of her marriage to actor-politician Vijay (C Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar). The couple, who have two children, first registered their union in the UK in July 1998, followed by a traditional Hindu ceremony in Chennai in August 1999.

The petition alleges that in April 2021, Sangkeetha discovered Vijay’s extramarital involvement with an actress, which caused her profound emotional distress. Despite promises of ending the relationship, the petition claims the affair continued, resulting in mental cruelty, public humiliation, emotional neglect, and constructive desertion. Attempts at reconciliation from September 2021–February 2022 and again from August 2024–February 2025 failed.

Sangkeetha seeks divorce, permanent alimony commensurate with Vijay’s status, continued residence in the matrimonial home, and in-camera proceedings to safeguard privacy.

Vijay’s attendance at Kalpathi Suresh’s son’s wedding reception with Trisha sparked a heated debate online. While some fans defended the pair, others criticised the timing, given the ongoing divorce proceedings.

Sanam responded to a comment defending Vijay-Trisha friendship, saying:

“Yes they can be ...but is it the right time to make this public appearance together when allegations have surfaced just a few days back? Especially without any counter statement from their side!”

She added firmly: “You can look at any angle you want! I'm not stopping you ”

The incident has sparked discussions across social media, highlighting the responsibility of public figures to act sensitively during personal crises.
