Actress Meghna Raj has shared both the highs and the unexpected heartbreaks of her life, including the loss of her husband Chiranjeevi Sarja, which left her fans deeply saddened. Yet, she has continued to move forward, sharing moments of joy with her supporters. The latest news bringing smiles to her fans is her return to Tamil cinema as part of Rajinikanth’s eagerly awaited film ‘Jailer 2’.
The original blockbuster, Jailer (2023), directed by Nelson, created a huge buzz, and its sequel has been highly anticipated. Meghna’s comeback in this pan-Indian film, featuring a stellar ensemble, is eagerly awaited by audiences. Reports suggest she will play a key character and has already begun shooting, though official confirmation and character details are yet to be released.
After successful roles in films like ‘Kaathal Solla Vanthen’ and ‘Uyarthiru 420’, this marks her strong re-entry into South Indian cinema. In Malayalam cinema, Meghna has left her mark with remarkable performances, and she is also set to return to the industry with ‘Ottakomban’, starring Suresh Gopi and directed by Mathews Thomas, currently in production. However, all eyes remain on her Tamil comeback in ‘Jailer 2’.
Produced by Kalanidhi Maran under Sun Pictures, the film promises a mix of action and comedy. Stars from the first film, including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa, will return, along with confirmed appearances by Shiva Rajkumar. Rumours suggest actors such as Mohanlal, S J Surya, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan and Santanam may also be part of the sequel.
Meghna last appeared in Tamil cinema in 2012’s ‘Nanda Nanditha’. Her 2023 performance in the Kannada suspense thriller Tatsama Tadbava received critical acclaim. She also earned state awards for her 2018 film ‘Iruvudellava Bittu’ and is awaiting the release of the Kannada film ‘Buddhivanth 2’ directed by M Jayaram. Meghna is simultaneously acting in the Kannada film ‘Amarath’ alongside Srinagar.
At the time of her husband Chiranjeevi Sarja’s passing, Meghna was five months pregnant. She has openly shared that her son Ryan Raj Sarja gave her the strength to keep living and move forward.
