Chennai: Superstar Rajinikanth, who was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai, is expected to be discharged on Friday, according to the doctors attending to him. The actor was taken to Apollo Hospital on Monday.
"The actor had swelling in a blood vessel connecting to the heart and was treated by a non-surgical trans catheter method," the hospital said in a statement. While the hospital initially indicated that he would be released on Thursday, the latest updates confirm that his discharge will now happen on Friday.

The statement further said: "Senior interventional cardiologist Sai Satish placed a stent in the aorta completely sealing off the swelling (Endovascular Repair). We would like to let his well-wishers and fans know that the procedure went, as planned. Rajinikanth is stable and doing well. He should be home in two days."However, there has been no official statement from the hospital regarding this change.
In the past, Rajinikanth faced health issues, including a hospitalisation in 2020 due to blood pressure fluctuations, after which he was advised a month of rest. He also underwent a carotid artery revascularization procedure in 2021.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to Rajinikanth’s wife, Latha, to inquire about the actor’s health and wished him a quick recovery. Tamil Nadu Governor R. N. Ravi and Chief Minister M. K. Stalin have also extended their wishes for his speedy recovery.
Rajinikanth's upcoming film, "Vettaiyan," is set to release on October 10. Directed by T. J. Gnanavel, the film marks the debut of Amitabh Bachchan in the Tamil film industry. The cast also includes prominent actors like Malayalam star Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, Thushara Vijayan, and Abhirami.
The song "Manasilayo," composed by Anirudh Ravichandran and featuring Rajinikanth and Manju, has gone viral, with the superstar’s dance moves receiving widespread acclaim.
