Pathanamthitta: Actor Prem Kumar has once again gone public with his resentment over being removed from his position at the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy without prior notice. His latest reaction comes in the wake of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan apologising to Mammootty following cyber attacks by Left-wing supporters, who alleged that the superstar insulted the CPM Wayanad district secretary during a visit to the Mundakkai-Chooralmala township.

Prem Kumar complained that when he faced cyber attacks for taking a harmless stance—advocating for the resolution of the ASHA workers' strike—neither the Chief Minister nor anyone else was ready to intervene. He alleged that this reveals a mindset of "one justice for the elite and the high-profile, and another justice for ordinary people." The actor expressed these views in a Facebook post titled ‘When the Chief Minister apologises’.

Prem Kumar’s Facebook post:

'When the Chief Minister apologises'

"The great actor of Malayalam, upon visiting Chooralmala, publicly expressed his displeasure toward a leader who joined him, without hiding it behind an act. As the news broke, those who once praised that great genius forgot everything in a moment and attacked him in cyber spaces. Like any human being, the great actor’s heart was pained by the cyber attack.

The Honourable Chief Minister of Kerala took responsibility for the vile actions of the cyber warriors and apologised to him. I heartfully appreciate the Chief Minister's broad-mindedness and sense of humanity.

Previously, for taking a harmless, pro-people stance that the general public collectively wished for—'that the ASHA strike must be resolved'—I was ousted from the position of Chairman of the State Chalachitra Academy without any notice. When I spoke about the 'humiliation of having to learn through the media' about the damage caused to my self-respect, a peerless cyber attack was launched against me by cyber warriors. It continues even now with greater strength, crossing all boundaries.

Using obscenities that would make any cultured person recoil and wounding words to character assassinate, mock and insult me—depicting me as the worst human being in the world—not only me but my family was also ridiculed in the most loathsome manner. Yet, I did not hear a single word of 'stop' from you, respected sir, or from anyone else.

For the past 35 years, I have worked as a fellow traveller of the movement, speaking precise politics against fascism and communalism while standing firm in my positions. It surprises me greatly that the brutal character assassination I faced in cyber spaces did not disturb you or those with you in the slightest, even though everyone, including the Cultural Minister, praised the activities of the Chalachitra Academy as excellent, sincere, dedicated and transparent.

One justice for the elite and the prominent, another justice for ordinary humans—it is this double justice that is evident in the approach shown toward the Sahitya Academy Chairman and the great actor, compared to the approach shown toward me.

I know I have no comparison with the great actor and that there is a vast difference between us. However, I am also a 'small actor' who has worked in the cinema sector for over three decades.

In a land where equal justice is guaranteed, I do not have the arrogance to say that you should apologise to me too. But please, tell those cyber warriors at least one word: 'Do not harass this poor man anymore.'

Remembering the Communist theory that history must begin from the very bottom, that the history of the marginalised and the poor is the real history, and that all decisions should be made keeping the poor in mind—

To those who face attacks from paid cyber soldiers hiding their faces in digital spaces— to those standing on the side of truth, justice, right and humanity— I express solidarity with all my fellow sufferers,

With love and regards, - Prem Kumar."
