Aamir Khan has addressed recent speculation suggesting he plans to retire from acting following the completion of his dream project ‘Mahabharat’. Speaking during a Fan Club segment on Zoom, the actor clarified that he has no intention of stepping away from cinema anytime soon and said his earlier comments had been misinterpreted.

Khan explained that his statement was made in a hypothetical context during a podcast conversation. “I was asked which film could be so fulfilling that I wouldn’t feel like working again,” he reportedly said. “I responded that if there were any such project, it would be ‘Mahabharat’. But the emphasis was on the ‘if’ — and that part was lost.”

He added that while ‘Mahabharat’ holds a special place in his heart due to its depth and complexity, he never meant to imply that it would be his final film. “In terms of material, I see ‘Mahabharat’ as the one story powerful enough to make me feel I’ve said everything I need to say as an artist. But that doesn’t mean I’ve decided to quit after it. People misunderstood.”

In a recent podcast with Raj Shamani, Khan reiterated his passion for the project, calling it a lifelong ambition. He said he intends to begin work on ‘Mahabharat’ after the release of his upcoming film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, scheduled to hit theatres on June 20. Describing ‘Mahabharat’, he reportedly said, “It is rich with emotion, vast in scope, layered, and full of grandeur. Everything that exists in life can be found within it.”

In the meantime, Khan is focused on ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, directed by RS Prasanna. The film, a remake of the Spanish movie ‘Campeones’, marks his return to the big screen and is slated for release later this month.
