Nishadh Yusuf, film editor known for his contributions to Indian cinema, passed away on Wednesday. Growing up near the SN Theater in Danapady, Haripad, Nishadh developed a passion for films from a young age. He was hesitant to pursue a career in cinema initially. However, he eventually became a highly respected editor and coordinator throughout the film industries in South India.

Most recently, Nishadh worked on the Tamil film Kanguva, starring actor Suriya. In an interview, Nishadh once said that Suriya verbally welcomed him into the Tamil film world and praised his editing work on the hit movie Thallumaala. For this movie, Nishadh received the state government award for best film editor in 2023.

He began his career in an editing studio in Thiruvananthapuram after gaining a diploma in post production, moving on to work with television serials before transitioning to film. His early projects included Raghuvinte Swantham Rasiya and Dracula 3D. He did spot editing works for Kuttanadan Marpapa, North 24 Katham, and 1971. He was also involved in producing acclaimed films such as Khalid Rahman's Unda, another Mammootty starrer One, Saudi Vellakka, and other movies, earning recognition for his editing excellence.

Nishadh often focused on the importance of proper visual arrangement in creating powerful cinematic experiences. While working in the editing department of television channels, he was confident he would transition to the film industry, but it took years of hard work. He was living in Ernakulam.

He was the son of Haripad natives, ex-serviceman Mohammed Yusuf and Laila. Nishad is survived by his wife, Shifa, from Changanassery, and their children, Zeedan and Liara Zeera.
