Former Mathrubhumi Chief General Manager M.V. Gopalakrishnan, who served the media organisation for 66 years, has passed away at the age of 93.

M.V. Gopalakrishnan, former Chief General Manager (Company Affairs and Law) at Mathrubhumi and one of the organisation's longest-serving executives, has passed away at the age of 93, bringing to a close a remarkable 66-year association with the media institution.
M.V. Gopalakrishnan was closely associated with Mathrubhumi's growth and administrative development for more than six decades. He joined the organisation as a clerk in 1948 and steadily rose through the ranks, eventually becoming one of its most senior executives.
His long tenure made him a witness to many of the major milestones in the history of the Kerala-based media group.
Gopalakrishnan took charge as Company Secretary in 1958 and went on to hold several key leadership positions over the years. In 1988, he became General Manager (Company Affairs and Secretary). He later served as General Manager (Company Affairs and Law) in 2000 and Senior General Manager (Company Affairs and Law) in 2005.
In 2013, he assumed the position of Chief General Manager (Company Affairs and Law), a role he held until his retirement in 2014.
A postgraduate in Political Science and Sociology, Gopalakrishnan was also an Associate Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
His expertise in corporate administration and governance contributed significantly to the functioning and development of the organisation over several decades.
Gopalakrishnan is survived by his wife Premavathi and children, including G. Anand, Senior General Manager of Mathrubhumi's Circulation Department, G. Venkatachalam and G. Geetha. His funeral is scheduled to be held in Kozhikode at 6 pm on Saturday.
Colleagues and associates remember Gopalakrishnan as a dedicated administrator whose career reflected commitment, institutional knowledge and loyalty. His 66-year service stands as one of the most remarkable tenures in the history of the organisation, leaving behind a lasting legacy within Mathrubhumi and Kerala's media landscape.
