Released on June 27, Kannappa has garnered appreciation from various regions across the country for its grand scale and spiritual narrative. However, despite its pan-India appeal and strong star cast, the film didn’t get wide recognition at the Kerala box office.

The movie features Malayalam superstar Mohanlal in a guest appearance. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and pan-India star Prabhas also appear in cameo roles. The ensemble cast includes industry veterans like Mohan Babu, Sarathkumar, Kajal Aggarwal, and Madhubala (Madhoo), among others.

Rooted in Indian mythology and folklore, Kannappa is produced under the banners AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory by Dr. Mohan Babu. The film is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, with cinematography by Hollywood’s Sheldon Chau. The action sequences are choreographed by Kaecha, while the music is composed by Stephen Devassy and edited by Anthony Gonsalves.
