The murder of Varun Prabhakar remains the definitive, spine-chilling turning point of the iconic ‘Drishyam’ franchise. Portrayed to perfection by young actor Roshan Basheer, Varun is the catalyst for everything Georgekutty and his family endured. Now, as the cinematic universe gears up for the massive release of Drishyam 3 this Thursday, Roshan has shared a nostalgic trip down memory lane, alongside a heartwarming note.

Expressing his immense joy at being part of a franchise that has achieved legendary status, Roshan shared old location pictures and wrote, "A collection of memories from back in 2013 when I shot for Drishyam. A film that became legendary, and a character that people still remember after all these years... tomorrow, ‘Drishyam 3’ arrives.

Even though my character met his end in the very first part, he lived on in people's minds through years of love, trolls and memes. Honestly, I have enjoyed every single bit of it! Roshan and Varun are two different people, but being recognised by a single role for this long is a true blessing. I am forever indebted to the entire team for making me a part of such a historic film. Wishing the Drishyam 3 team all the very best. Waiting for tomorrow!"

Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, the shooting for the third installment wrapped up by early December. Alongside Megastar Mohanlal, the core family—Meena, Ansiba Hassan and Esther Anil—returns to headline the movie. The technical crew features Satheesh Kurup behind the camera, Vinayak on editing duties and Anil Johnson composing the music.

The phenomenon began back in 2013 with the release of ‘Drishyam’, widely regarded as one of Malayalam cinema's greatest thrillers. Fans had to wait eight long years to see the next chapter of Georgekutty’s family in 2021. Due to the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, ‘Drishyam 2’ bypassed theatres for a direct OTT release, yet it was embraced with open arms by fans worldwide. Now, all eyes are on the third chapter to see how the ultimate cover-up unfolds.
