Kochi: The complainant in the sexual harassment case against actor and MLA Mukesh has responded following the registration of the case by the Marad Police. The case was filed based on a complaint from a young woman from Ernakulam. The police took her statement a few days ago, and Mukesh is facing charges under IPC Section 354, which pertains to assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage modesty, with non-bailable charges.

The complainant has alleged that Mukesh not only harassed her but also used offensive language during the incident. She has called for Mukesh to step down from his MLA position, expressing that the support from the government and police has bolstered her confidence.

In her statement, she remarked:

"When problems arise, crying doesn’t help. If wives don’t uphold propriety, husbands will look elsewhere. The lack of respect for women often leads to such situations. I have evidence, and although there were no opportunities to lodge a complaint before, changes in society, government, and law prompted me to come forward now. The issue of harassment affects not only women but also men."

She emphasised that Mukesh's actions are unrelated to his party, and expressed her support for the police’s backing. She also noted that many others have come forward against Mukesh, suggesting that his position as an MLA is not justified. She feels relieved to have spoken out and is hopeful for justice, particularly after receiving support from the Chief Minister.

The complainant also expressed satisfaction that a case has been filed against actor Jayasurya. She alleged that Jayasurya harassed her inside the secretariat building, specifically on the way to the bathroom, and hopes witnesses from that time will corroborate her account.
