Sai Abhyankkar, who quickly rose to fame on social media with hit tracks like "Kachi Sera," "Aasa Kooda," and "Sithira Puthiri," is now making his much-anticipated entry into Malayalam cinema. The young musician's debut will be in Balti, an upcoming Onam release starring Shane Nigam.

The promo video for Balti, which features a surprise phone call from Malayalam superstar Mohanlal inviting Sai Abhyankkar to join the industry, has been received with great excitement by fans. The video ends with Mohanlal holding a jersey with Sai’s name on it, adding to the celebratory feel around the film and the artist’s debut.

Balti is said to be a music- and action-heavy entertainer. The film is being produced under the banners of STK Frames and Binu George Alexander Productions by Santhosh T. Kuruvilla and Binu George Alexander. Kuruvilla, notably, is also the producer behind critically acclaimed Malayalam hits such as Maheshinte Prathikaaram, Mayaanadhi, Android Kunjappan, and Nna Thaan Case Kodu. The film is being helmed by debutant director Unni Sivalingam.

Marking Shane Nigam’s 25th film, Balti has already generated considerable buzz. Music lovers and filmgoers alike are eager to witness Sai Abhyankkar's Malayalam cinema debut. Sai, who is the son of noted playback singers Tippu and Harini, has already amassed over 200 million views on YouTube across his viral music videos.

In Tamil cinema, Sai is an emerging name, with several high-profile projects under his belt. He is composing for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Benz, Suriya’s Karuppu, Silambarasan’s STR 49, a project featuring Allu Arjun and director Atlee, and another film starring Pradeep Ranganathan titled Dude.

Balti is also being touted as the most expensive film of Shane Nigam’s career to date. Set against the backdrop of a Kerala–Tamil Nadu border village, the film’s title glimpse, released a few weeks ago, was met with wide acclaim on social media. The project brings together prominent actors from both Malayalam and Tamil cinema, along with a team of seasoned technical experts.

As anticipation builds, Balti is poised to be a major festive release and a significant launchpad for Sai Abhyankkar in Malayalam cinema.
