“We used to think it would turn out to be…” Priyamani revealed.

Priyamani is all set to enthrall the audience with her latest OTT release — Good Wife — a Tamil courtroom drama that has begun streaming on JioHotstar.
As part of the promotional campaign for her latest release, Priyamani recently participated in a delightful interview with PT Prime, where she offered insights into her role in Good Wife and shared several exciting anecdotes from her career spanning over two decades.
For the unversed, Priyamani won the National Award for her performance as Muthazhagi in the classic Tamil village drama Paruthiveeran, directed by Ameer. The film also marked the silver screen debut of Karthi, who played the title role.
In the interview, while talking about Paruthiveeran, Priyamani said,
“See, to begin with, while filming, we had no idea what the story or script really was. Both Karthi and I used to reach the location almost every day around 6:30 AM, and Ameer sir would arrive about an hour later. He would observe the location — everything used to be mostly spontaneous. There were instances where he would write the dialogues on the spot and then narrate them to us, and we’d perform accordingly.”
Reflecting on the raw intensity of her performance, she quipped,
“Yes, while performing as Muthazhagi, the scenes where I get beaten up — either by Karthi or even Muthuvannan sir — were all shot with maximum realism. I had to actually ‘suffer’ those blows,” Priyamani revealed.
Delving deeper, she added,
"Paruthiveeran is one film where we truly had no clue how it would turn out. Karthi and I used to think it would be just another romantic film, but we all know now what eventually unfolded."
In the interview, Priyamani also walked down memory lane, recalling how her director stood by her and supported her — from acting nuances to dubbing — which ultimately made Muthazhagi one of the most revered characters she has portrayed on screen to date.
Meanwhile, Good Wife is a remake of an American series, now fully adapted to an Indian setting. The show traces the journey of a woman whose life is thrown into jeopardy due to unforeseen circumstances.
Priyamani will also be seen playing a key role in Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, though the actor has so far refrained from commenting on the project.
Priyamani continues to shine as she carries forward her illustrious cinematic journey.
