Directed by Tharun Moorthy, Thudarum stars Mohanlal in the lead role as an ordinary taxi driver in this much-awaited family drama. Cinematographer Faiz Siddik, known for his work in 1000 babies, Christopher and Operation Java, has praised Mohanlal’s performance, stating that it was shocking and emotionally engaging.
Faiz Siddik, in a recent interview with Silly Monks Mollywood, revealed how Mohanlal's performance in Thudarum reminded him of the actor’s role in Bhramaram. He said, "When I saw the visuals in Thudarum, I was reminded of Lalettan in Bhramaram. The emotions, the expressions—I was shocked to see his performance." Siddik also commended Maniyanpilla Raju Chettan for his strong performance in the same film.
The makers of Thudarum recently released a behind-the-scenes video offering a glimpse of Mohanlal’s shooting experience and the production journey. Tharun Moorthy expressed his happiness at having presented Mohanlal in the most compelling way possible. "I was able to present Mohanlal in a way I wanted him to be presented in the movie. It is the greatest joy for me," said the director in the video. No further details about Shobhana’s role in the film have been disclosed as yet.
Thudarum is not only Mohanlal’s 360th film but also marks the much-anticipated reunion of the actor with Shobana after 15 years. The duo last appeared together in Sagar Alias Jacky (2009) under the direction of Amal Neerad. Their earlier collaboration was in Mampazhakkalam (2004), directed by Joshiy.
In Thudarum, Mohanlal takes on the role of a taxi driver from Ranni, a small town in Pathanamthitta, reflecting the life of a typical rural villager. The film explores the day-to-day struggles and aspirations of a common man, with the screenplay and dialogues crafted by Tharun Moorthy and KR Sunil.
The film boasts a notable supporting cast, including Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, Nandhu, Irshad Ali, Aarsha Chandini Baiju, Thomas Mathew, Krishna Praba, Prakash Varma and Aravind, among others. Many newcomers are also set to make appearances.
