Baburaj is expected to contest for the position of General Secretary, while actor Raveendran is likely to vie for either the Vice President or Treasurer role

Kochi: Malayalam film industry’s leading artists’ association, AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists), is set to witness a keenly contested election this year as veteran actor Mohanlal has decided not to contest to the President post again.
According to reports, actors Jagadish and Shwetha Menon are likely to contest for the president's post. Both of them, along with Baburaj and Raveendran, have submitted their nominations for various key positions. Jagadish is said to be actively seeking support from fellow artists for his presidential bid.
The final day for filing nominations for the AMMA executive committee election is on Thursday. While initial reports had suggested that Mohanlal might continue in the post unopposed, he later chose to withdraw from the race. Recent reports says that Mohanlal will no longer continue in the post of AMMA President.
Baburaj is expected to contest for the position of General Secretary, while actor Raveendran is likely to vie for either the Vice President or Treasurer role.
This year's election is expected to be more dynamic than previous years, especially for the President's post, where a strong contest is anticipated. The complete list of candidates and positions will become clear by Thursday evening, once the nomination deadline closes.
