Kochi: The PVR Forum Mall in Kochi was buzzing with excitement as the premiere show of the re-released classic, "Manichitrathazhu", took place on Thursday. The audience was transported back to the golden era when the iconic Tamil cover song filled the theatre with Dolby Atmos and the screen had Nagavalli, a character played by Shobana, walking and dancing around the Madampalli mansion echoing the sound of chilanga (anklet bells) through the hall.

The premiere screening was held on Thursday at Forum Mall in Kochi which was attended by industry bigwigs, including Vinaya Prasad, who played Sreedevi in the movie. Famous director Sibi Malayil, screenwriter SN Swamy, and producers Sherga, Shenuga, Siyad Koker, and Sandip Senan were among the others who attended the screening.

E4Entertainment is bringing this iconic movie back to Kerala audiences on August 17 with enhanced sound and visuals that will breathe new life into the 30-year-old classic.

The movie, directed by Fazil and written by Madhu Muttam, is considered one of the finest psychological thrillers in Indian cinema. The story follows Nakulan (Suresh Gopi) and Ganga (Shobana) as they return to their ancestral home, only to uncover secrets and supernatural forces. Mohanlal's portrayal of Dr. Sunny Joseph, a psychiatrist, added depth to the narrative.

The movie was released in 1993.
