Bramayugam becomes the only Indian film to be screened at the Oscar Academy Museum’s special global series.

Los Angeles: Malayalam cinema marks another historic milestone. Bramayugam, the acclaimed film starring Mammootty, will be screened tomorrow at the prestigious Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles.
The film is the only Indian entry selected for the Academy Museum’s special film series, Where the Forest Meets the Sea, which showcases world cinema rooted in folklore, myth and horror. Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, Bramayugam has been chosen as part of this curated global programme, introducing international audiences to distinctive cinematic voices.
The screening also marks the first time a Mammootty film is being showcased at the Oscar Academy Museum — a notable moment in the actor’s illustrious career. The event, scheduled for Thursday evening Los Angeles time, has generated considerable excitement within film circles.
Coming in the backdrop of protests over the film’s exclusion from the National Awards shortlist, this international recognition is being viewed as a strong affirmation of Malayalam cinema’s global presence. Mammootty’s haunting portrayal of ‘Kodumon Potti’ is expected to spark fresh discussions among global cinephiles.
Director Rahul Sadasivan and Mammootty shared the proud moment with fans on social media. The film, shot in striking black-and-white, also features Arjun Ashokan, Siddharth Bharathan and Amalda Liz in key roles. A teaser released in connection with the screening includes glimpses from Bramayugam alongside visuals of the Academy Museum.
