Actor Mammootty clinched his 15th Filmfare Award for his performance in the 2023 film 'Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam' in Hyderabad

While receiving the award, the actor stated that what should have been a happy moment is a sad one for him as ‘his people’ are ‘suffering’ after the landslides in Wayanad.

Mammootty said, "This is my 15th Filmfare. I played a dual role in which I speak Tamil as well as Malayalam. I produced it myself. I thank my team for this.” He continued to say that it was not a joyous moment for him because of the Wayanad tragedy. "This is supposed to be a very happy moment for me, but I am not very happy. I am sad for the suffering of my people in Wayanad, who lost their lives. I remember them at this moment. I wish for you to support them and help them regain their lives,” he added.

Mammootty won the Best Actor Award in Malayalam for his performance in the film 'Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam,' directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. Mammootty also became the only Indian actor to win the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in all five decades since the 1980s. Vikram won the Best Actor Award in Tamil, Nani in Telugu, and Rakshit Shetty in Kannada.
