Malayalam superstar Mammootty to resume shooting for Mahesh Narayanan`s `Patriot` in Hyderabad after an 8-month break. Film features Mohanlal and Fahadh Faasil.

Hyderabad: Malayalam cinema superstar Mammootty is set to return to the film sets after an eight-month hiatus. The 74-year-old actor, who stepped back from public life due to health concerns, will resume work on the big-budget film 'Patriot' in the first week of October at Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan, 'Patriot' features one of the most star-studded casts in recent Malayalam cinema, including Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Mohanlal and acclaimed actor Fahadh Faasil. Narayanan confirmed that about 60 per cent of the film has already been shot, but production was delayed while Mammootty underwent treatment in Chennai. The film’s release, originally scheduled for next month, will now be postponed.
The Hyderabad schedule has been chosen to provide controlled conditions, allowing Mammootty to work without the large fan gatherings that typically accompany his shoots. In recent months, the actor has been staying in Chennai, away from his Kochi residence. Sources say he may make Chennai his permanent base, citing ongoing medical care at a leading private hospital and proximity to his son, actor Dulquer Salmaan.
Industry observers note that many Kerala actors prefer Chennai for the privacy it offers, unlike Kerala, where fans are constantly present. Mammootty’s return to 'Patriot' not only signals his recovery but also generates excitement for a film that brings together three of Malayalam cinema’s biggest stars. For fans, his comeback is being celebrated as a major moment.
