Dulquer Salmaan recently spoke about the remarkable versatility of actors Mohanlal and Mammootty, particularly in the context of the 1982 film Padayottam, directed by Jijo Punnoose and based on a screenplay by N. Govindan Kutty. In this film, Mohanlal played the character of Kannan, while Mammootty portrayed his father, Kamaran.

Dulquer highlighted how actors of that generation were willing to embrace a variety of roles, likening their approach to those coming from a theatrical background. He remarked, “Actors of that era were prepared to portray any kind of character, as if they were stepping out of a stage play. They could take on roles as women, older individuals, or teenagers, which was their greatest challenge.”

Dulquer made these comments during the promotional events for his upcoming film Lucky Baskhar. He noted, “ My 'Vappichi' acting as Lal uncle’s father is a testament to their versatility. Actors of that generation were truly adaptable.”

"Lucky Baskhar," directed by Venky Atluri, marks Dulquer's return to theatres after a year. The film is set to release in multiple languages, including Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, and is scheduled to hit theatres today, October 31.

'My daughter is a big fan of Allu Arjun'

At the pre-release event for Lucky Baskhar, Dulquer spoke about his favourite Telugu film, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, which was released in 2020 and directed by Trivikram Srinivas, featuring Allu Arjun. Dulquer expressed his admiration for the film, stating it is one of his favourites. He also shared a charming anecdote about his daughter, who is a fan of Allu Arjun. She once asked him if he knew the actor, prompting Dulquer to playfully respond as her father rather than as a fellow actor.

"I have watched Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, and it is one of my favourite films. My daughter is a big fan of Allu Arjun. She once asked me, 'Do you know Allu Arjun?' At that moment, I was a dad instead of an actor," Dulquer said. He assured Maryam that he would definitely introduce her to Allu Arjun someday, highlighting that many fans of the actor are in his family.

Lucky Bhaskar is one of several movies being released in theatres during Diwali this year.
